Are Gays Born This Way?

Justifying sin with the “born this way”

There is an intense debate if homosexual behavior and gender dysphoria are social constructs or genetics. But just like pedophilia or polyamory, having sex with the same gender is a sin in the Bible. But today, these are normalized sins because, after all, they are “born this way.”

Recently, a massive study indicated same-sex sexual behavior is influenced by more than one gene, regardless of the environment. Hence, gender dysphoria is “real” but also conflated.

Likewise, pedophilia may be a thing for specific people, and adultery justifiable for others. However, this normalized sin hurts someone and ultimately destroys the nuclear family.

Born this way: Gay feelings are “natural”

Proponents of “born this way” assume that because gay feelings or attraction are “natural,” it is permissive. Even if it is one’s nature, it is “sinful nature.” But those who are in Christ are a “new creation.”

It doesn’t mean that these sinful desires go away. But it’s because the person repented (metanoia or change of mind) and decided to stop feeding their sinful nature.

Even if it is one’s nature, it is sinful nature.

Those in Christ are a new creation

Satan tempts us to act out our “sinful nature” rather than obey God. But as the apostles put it, “as some of you were, but has been sanctified in Christ” and are a new creation in Christ. Scripture is clear: those who practice homosexuality by embracing the gay lifestyle are going to hell. Ultimately, it is a choice.

1 Corinthians 6:11
And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
