Bring your Bible to School - Philippines

National Bible Month: Bring your Bible to school on January 27, 2020

J15 School Clubs will celebrate the National Bible Month with the first “Bring Your Bible To School” Project in the Philippines. It was held on January 27, 2020 at participating public schools, coinciding with the National Bible Day.

Mechanics:

WHAT: National Bible Month #BYBTS
WHO: All schools are invited.
WHERE: Any school that wants to participate.
OBJECTIVE: To encourage Bible reading among students.
DATE: January 27, 2020 (Monday).

What happens on that day?

Once a year, students are encouraged to bring their “physical Bible” during the National Bible Day in their school. On this day, students are mandated by law to honor and read the Bible. The event coincides with the National Bible Month and the National Bible Week.

Schools that register will be provided a volunteer chaplain to read and explain a Bible passage from John Chapter 15. This can be done in a classroom or auditorium set-up on that day. The National Bible Day is mandated by law under Republic Act 11163. It is observed every last Monday of January each year.

How to join?

  1. Click here to register online.
  2. We will arrange for a chaplain to visit your school.
  3. Receive your free poster and “Bear Fruit” bookmarks.
Jesus said in John 15:5: “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me shall bear fruit. Apart from Me, you can do nothing.”

WHY SHOULD I SUPPORT IT? Faith in the Judeo-Christian God is part of the Filipino culture. Christmas is defined as the birth of Christ and the Holy Week a solemn tradition. The law has provisions for the Filipino Values Month whose first pillar is “godliness.” Likewise, written on our currency bill is “Pinagpala ang bayan na ang Diyos ay ang Panginoon,” (Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord). We must protect our culture and tradition by encouraging the young generation to appreciate the value of reading the Bible.
