Commentary on Hebrews 10:26: “Deliberately keep on sinning”

Commentary on Hebrews 10:26: Do I lose my salvation if I “deliberately keep on sinning”?

1. A true Christian still sins but will step out of a “lifestyle of sin”

Hebrews 10:26 is the most quoted verse to rebuke people who live in sin yet claim to be Christian. A genuine Christian does not live a “lifestyle of sin” and claims grace at the same time. These are not true Christians who were never saved, to begin with.

2. God is patient when we sin

God is slow to anger (Psalm 103:8) and patient, like his love, that endures forever (Psalm 136)—but He cannot be mocked if we “live to please ourselves” and not Him by continuously embracing sin. Judgment awaits those who mock God. (Galatians 6:7)

3. Sin less and less

We will continue to sin as long as we are in the flesh. Therefore, Christians should strive not to be sinless but to hate and run away from sin—not embrace it.

HEBREWS 10:26
If we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.
