Emily Juson’s Battle with Cancer, Miracles, and the God Who Sustains
Emily Juson’s life is a testimony of endurance, faith, and God’s sustaining grace. Her family immigrated to Canada in 2007 for a fresh start. Just two years later, in 2009, she was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer—aggressive and genetic.
God’s Perfect Timing
It was a shocking blow—not only to the family but also to the new ministry they had just begun. Emily had been healthy, active in church work, playing badminton, and exercising regularly. Cancer could have spiraled into depression, but early on, Emily knew what God could do. Still, she was grateful to be in a place with better medical care. God’s timing is always perfect.
Instead of trepidation, she filled her mind with truth and memorized Bible verses, sang worship songs, and spoke gratitude daily. Peggy Ongsiaco, Aggie Sartou, and others like her from the church did the same thing. They starved fear by feeding her faith. Though the Lord has taken Peggy and Aggie, He has other plans for Emily.

Emily’s First Miracle: “Don’t!”—Is that You, Lord?
Emily immediately underwent surgery to remove her ovaries, choosing a full hysterectomy to prevent further spread. During recovery, wracked with pain, she reached for the emergency button to activate the morphine pump. With eyes closed, she felt the room brighten and heard a voice say, “Don’t.”
She struggled to press the button, but suddenly felt a hand stop her. Then, a wave of warmth filled her abdomen—the very area of her operation—and the pain vanished. No one else was in the room. She whispered, “Is that You, Lord?” Deep down, she knew—it was Jesus who had touched her.

Miracle of Peace That Transcends
One restless night, Emily asked her husband to pray with her as she found it difficult to sleep. Then she felt a gentle hand rub her chin, and a deep calm washed over her, and she fell asleep.
A Divine Visitor
Her husband later said it wasn’t him—he only saw her peacefully asleep around 2 a.m., wearing a deep smile. Emily described their divine guest as radiant white.
In both moments of seeing her radiant, supernatural visitor, Emily experienced exactly what Scripture promises: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

Cancer Returns in 2014
Though she went into remission, the cancer returned in 2014—this time in her liver. She wrestled for a moment, questioning if the supernatural comfort experience was even real. But doubt immediately dissipated, for she knew the promises of Jesus.
In the same year, her husband Butch had a quadruple heart bypass—while they were launching a new church. The timing felt impossible. Yet as they advanced God’s kingdom and trusted in His provision. God met not only their financial needs, but her children finished school and served in church. God’s grace sustained the entire family.
Emily went back to therapy and experienced four more remissions within the span of 10 years until she felt it was no longer working.

Going for Palliative Care
In 2024, Emily stopped chemo when it became ineffective and risky. By January 2025, she shifted to immunotherapy despite resulting in full-body neuropathy. Some tumors responded; others did not. Still, Emily presses on—leading women’s Bible study, teaching voice, and continuing church-planting work with her husband in Saskatchewan.
Cancer remains, but peace rules, and she can still move around the house and have a quick trip. Emily’s story is living proof: suffering doesn’t mean God is absent, and faith doesn’t always take away the storm, but it does calm the soul in the midst of it.
Clinging to God’s Words
Despite the physical toll, Emily never spiraled into deep depression. Miracles followed. Some small. Some undeniable. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into years. Through it all, God sustained her—not just physically, but emotionally as well.
She lives today, not paralyzed by anxiety, but filled with peace.
Emily clung to many Bible verses throughout her journey, but Romans 8:28 has remained a constant anchor to this day.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
