Joyce Lin, MIT Master’s Degree holder, USAF officer, pilot, seminary graduate, and Christian missionary dies in a plane crash en route to help people
Joyce Lin earned two degrees in engineering from the prestigious MIT. While serving at the US Air Force, God called her into ministry. She pursued a seminary degree that led her to an aviation missionary, MAP, in Papua, Indonesia.
Mission work is never easy. She had to make long commutes from to get to the office. She could have chosen to stay with her family in the US and work at Google or Silicon Valley, yet despite her accomplishments, she chose to be a missionary and share the love of Christ to isolated people.

When only God could makes sense of it
On May 12, 2020, at 6:27 a.m., Joyce took off from Sentani. She had school supplies and COVID-19 rapid test kits with her, en route to a remote village who needed it badly. Two minutes into her flight, Joyce sent a distress call, then there was nothing. The rescue team recovered her body from Lake Sentani after.

We don’t mourn as those who have no hope
Nabeel Qureshi was a brilliant Muslim who was radically transformed into Christianity. He was extremely useful to the ministry as well. Like Joyce who accomplished much on this earth and dedicated his life to Christ, He too was gone too soon.
Only God has the answer for all these – but we do know that not everyone will live long lives. In fact, at least 150,000 people die every day. Joyce is just one of 55 Millions of people who die each year. Although she will be greatly missed, we cannot mourn for ‘Believers‘ like Joyce because death is merely a doorway to eternity.
Joyce is with her maker and on “judgment day for Believers,” she will get her reward. Like others who serve Christ, may God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master,” Matthew 25:23.
