Revelation 6: Why Satan Fears Nationalism
The First Seal: A Counterfeit Peace
According to Bible Teacher John MacArthur, Revelation 6:1-2 describes the rider on the white horse as the Antichrist, not Christ, who deceives the world with false unity and security. This fulfills 1 Thessalonians 5:3: “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction.
Satan’s plan is global rule by erasing nations (Acts 17:26; Romans 13:1) and bringing forth peace. However, that peace is brief—quickly followed by war, famine, and death (Revelation 6:3–8). MacArthur stresses that only Christ gives true peace (John 14:27).
Revelation 6:2
“And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.”

Why Satan Hates Nationalism and Patriotism
God established nations and borders (Acts 17:26) to preserve order and restrain lawlessness (Romans 13:1)—which is why Satan pushes open borders. Patriotism honors the country, so Satan stirs youth to disrespect the flag.
Satan’s Plan: Destroy patriotism
Open borders breed chaos, and contempt for national symbols, such as the flag, fuels disunity—the enemy’s aim. By destroying nationalism and patriotism, Satan paves the way for a “one-world system” under Antichrist’s rule (Revelation 13:7–8). [War on Flag]
True peace comes only from Christ (John 14:27). Any other promise of global unity is a deception. Nationalism—when rightly ordered under God—protects sovereignty, morality, and gospel witness, making it a direct barrier to Satan’s plan for a borderless rebellion.
