“So help me God” oath removed

2019, Liberal left politicians want “So help me God” from oath removed

Liberal Democrats in the USA are changing House customs, like omitting words from a swearing-in oath. “I think God belongs in religious institutions… but not in Congress,” said Representative Cohen of Tennessee, chairman of Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties. “And God doesn’t want to be used,” he added.

A key committee from the Democrat-controlled House of Representative wanted to eliminate the “God” reference from the oath to testifying witnesses. A draft shows it would only recite, “Do you solemnly swear or affirm, under penalty of law, that the testimony that you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?” Removed is “So help me God.”

Political Equality

A large conservative group of delegates shouted “NO” as the committee chairman called for the vote. The conservative party (Republicans) was able to prevent the liberal party (Democrats) from striking it out. For some reasons, Democrats are so “offended” by the mere mention of God. They site equality to push their agenda, which is definitely not from God.
