Is Spiritual Warfare Biblical?

Spiritual Deliverance and Warfare in the Bible

Christians who insist spiritual deliverance is not necessary because the devil is defeated might as well have been deceived (1 John 3:8). The demonic realm is real and remains active.

In fact, Satan continues to seek someone to devour. Although he is defeated, the struggle against demonic forces continues until Jesus returns. (Ephesians 6:12)

Apostle Paul mentions on four occasions how the devil can influence both unbelievers and believers in his letters to the Ephesians. Thankfully, victory is ours in the name of Jesus. (1 John 2:13; 2 Corinthians 10:4)

In 1954, the exorcism of Clarita Villanueva demonstrated the need for Christians to learn Spiritual Warfare. Former Satanists John Ramirez reveals they are organized and equipped, and so should we.

Exercising “Delegated Authority” to cast out demons

Jesus had 12 apostles, but He also had hundreds of disciples who have delegated authority to command demons to leave, among other abilities.

Before He returned to heaven, Jesus told hundreds of His disciples “to make disciples,” teaching them all the commands of Jesus (Acts 1:15; 1 Corinthians 15:6). This tradition continues until the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Luke 10:17-20
The Seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.” He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like a lightning flash.

Luke 10:19
“Behold, I have given you the authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” However, don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Luke 11:20
If I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.

Ephesians 6:11-17
“Put on the whole armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore put on the whole armor of God so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
