The Christian Mindset: The Mind of Christ
The right mindset is essential to achieving success. As followers of Jesus, we are told to renew our minds daily, seek sanctification, and be transformed entirely by grace. Doing so moves us closer to “Christian maturity,” which enables us to live successful Christian lives where we are able to overcome adversity with joy.
The mindset of Christ is evident in His character. He is humble, obedient to God, patient, and loving. Yet, He repeatedly faced danger and mockery.
Philippians 2:6-11
Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble.
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that in the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
DISCUSSION:
- What character of Jesus struck you most and why?
- What does it mean for you that Jesus gave up His divine privileges?
How do we achieve the mind of Christ?
Apart from Christ, we cannot bear fruit. Therefore, the first step to achieving a “Christ-like mind” is abiding in Him. To do this, we must remain in His love, which means we must obey His commands.
John 15:12
This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you.
DISCUSSION:
- What are the fruits of the Spirit?
- How do we bear these fruits?
- What happens to our minds if we have the fruit of the Spirit?
