Student who got 1480 SAT score by getting the wrong mail

The high school student who got a 1480 SAT Score by getting the wrong mail

Trevor Moawad relayed a story his father told him about one of the most successful magazine entrepreneurs in the world. He was an intelligent but lazy student. He didn’t want to take the SAT, knowing he’d fail anyway. Still, he promised his mother he would finish high school and take it, even if he didn’t pass.

Surprisingly, he received an extremely high score of 1480 out of 1600.

The power of positive thinking

Realizing his potential, he faithfully attends classes, studies harder, and avoids bad influences. His grades improved, he finished college, and he went on to become a successful magazine entrepreneur.

However, 12 years later, he received a letter from the SAT board saying there was an error in his score. He was one of 13 students who were sent the wrong mail. He only got 740.

Renew your mindset

His success is often attributed to his intelligence—but it was his “renewed mindset” that caused him to start acting with a high score and emulated the actions of high achievers.

When people believe that they have a shot at success, they will gravitate towards it. That is why we shouldn’t be told that the color of our skin or poverty gives us a disadvantage because success is about grit.

But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.
