Four Biblical perspectives on abortion
Abortion is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible, but murder is. It also says that life begins at conception. Therefore, to kill a fetus is murder.
During Biblical times, there were pagan groups who sacrificed babies, which is why God annihilated them. Today, innocent babies are murdered in the name of women’s choice.
1. Life begins at conception
At fertilization, the sperm and egg unite and create a unique genetic blueprint. The zygote contains all the genetic information needed to develop a new human being.
Therefore, getting rid of a few weeks-old zygotes is merely discarding a clump of cells. However, aren’t humans also a clump of cells?
Science and the Bible
Approximately 91% of abortions were performed at or before 13 weeks gestation. Of those, nearly two-thirds were performed at or before eight weeks gestation.
In other words, no person can justify killing human life at any stage, for life is created upon conception according to science and the scriptures.
- The development of the lungs and heart begins in embryonic development.
- The heart forms as a primitive tube around week 3 or 4 of gestation.
- By week 8, it has developed into a four-chambered organ capable of pumping blood.
Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.
Psalm 139:13-16
You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, and I know that well.
2. Abortion is murder, not healthcare
In 2022, actor Anne Hathaway shared on a liberal talk show, “The View,” that women’s rights are health rights. She also said that “Abortion can be another word for mercy.”
For progressive liberals like her, abortion is “health care” and “my body, my choice, my right.” Their common crux is a fetus is merely a “clump of cells” or a blob that has no constitutional rights.
But in the Bible, God knitted us in the womb; He knew us before we were born. An unborn child has every right to live, for they are precious.
Recently, some Democrat states have proposed late-term abortion. In other words, to make it legal to murder a baby just when it’s about to be born. Even as a fetus, it has a heartbeat.
It feeds, breathes, and can scream in pain as soon as the forceps tear it apart. In other words, it has every right to live because it is living.
There is no mercy in abortion
Mercy in the Bible is about love and forgiveness, not murdering a baby. What about having mercy on the baby about to be born?
To abort a fetus, the abortionist uses tools to cut the limbs, torso, and head so that it can be flushed easily out of the mother’s womb. It is a barbaric and painful way to kill someone—simply because they cannot scream loud enough.
Exodus 20:13
You shall not murder.
Exodus 23:7
Keep far from a false charge, and do not kill the innocent and righteous, for I will not acquit the wicked.

3. Killing babies is a Satanic ritual
Pagan practices of sacrificing babies to appease their gods were prevalent, which is one of the reasons why God commanded to destroy them.
For example, the Ammonites and Canaanites sacrificed babies who were alive to the pagan god Molech. The statue of Molech was made of bronze, and its outstretched arms were heated like a sizzling plate for the ritual.
The babies were then placed into the idol’s hands and died there or were rolled into a fire pit below as an offering.
Bronze statues with outstretched arms have been unearthed at various archaeological sites, including the ancient city of Carthage and the ruins of the temple of Amman in Jordan, providing evidence of the worship of Molech in those locations.
Child sacrifice ritual
Child sacrifice still exist. In Uganda, child sacrifice rooted in witcraft is thought to bring good fortune and wealth.
Today, millions of babies have been “sacrificed” through legal abortion pushed by mostly Democrats and liberal politicians in the U.S.
4. Our body is not our choice
We were purchased at a price through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Our body is sacred; we shouldn’t even put marks on it. It is God’s temple and not our own.
What about the baby’s choice?
The war between pro-life and pro-abortion stands on a straightforward issue: It’s my choice.
True enough, why should other people bother if you want to kill your child? But what about the right of the human inside a mother?
The argument that justifies abortion by claiming that a fetus cannot make decisions, while a mother can, falls short. Babies and toddlers cannot make decisions; does that mean a mother can get rid of them if they become inconvenient?
Speak for the voiceless
The Bible says we must expose evil and speak for those who cannot speak (Ephesians 5:11). Christians cannot force someone with a depraved mind to change their way. That’s God’s work. However, we should always talk of truth in love.
The No. 1 reason for abortion is fear and hopelessness about having an unwanted child that would not fit their lifestyle—which indeed is a choice.
Corinthians 6:19-20
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.
